I did the AVCATS earlier on in the year - nicely put together course and the owner is most helpful if you have any queries.
I think the prices for all the 'Approved' online courses are similar.

Hi all,
Thanks for the replies - I had it in my head that AVCATS was no longer accredited by CASA but that doesn't seem to be the case.
Cheers,
UTR.

Looking at my certificate on the wall, the terms are "Flight Crew Dangerous Goods Course" and "Non-Dangerous Goods Acceptance Course".
That is how Avstar terms it.

Dodge the CAAA (civil aviation acadamey) stuff like the plague.
Airsafe are pretty much industry standard, most regionals use them, good quality stuff, and if you have a drama, they are always happy to talk it out with you.

What is the most desirable level for employers regarding CPL(A)s? Acceptance or Awareness? My gut tells me Awareness might be overkill.

All you need to do is awareness. See dangerous good, identify and refuse carriage.
(Group A) Acceptance of dangerous goods - pilots who accept or handle freight containing DGs.
(Group B) Acceptance of non-dangerous goods - pilots who accepts or handles non-dg freight
(Group C) Awareness - for crew who do not have any thing to do with acceptance or handling of baggage or freight - Airline crew who have ground staff.
(Group E) Acceptance of passenger baggage - pilots who accepts or handles passenger baggage.
Most charter pilots would do a combined B/C/E course, by whatever name the provider calls it.

Recognised Industry training needs to be done by a Registered Training Organisation. This is controlled by the Federal Government. Go to training.gov.au where you can search for registered organisations or phone them.
Try
Civil Aviation Safety Authority - Dangerous goods courses - Who should do a dangerous goods course?
One can find a lot of info on the CASA web site - if you can navigate some illogical links.
