Radalt question

Why is it that frequency modulated continuous wave radio altimeter can achieve better accuracy than the pulse type radio altimeter?

This question would be better asked in the Tech Log forum.

Agree with PLovett although a minor correction

This question would be more likely better answered in the Tech Log forum

A guess based on my rusty radar knowledge, the pulse type radalt is probably limited in accuracy by the length of the pulse.

Here's some general info on FM continuous-wave radar from Wikipedia. It seems that it also has power and range advantages.
