Massive Landing Fee hike BRISBANE
For any one intending to fly to Brisbane in the near future please beware. As of July 1st it will cost you $150 per movement, that is $300 to land and take off, during peak hours. Basically the outside peak is between 10am and 4pm. The BAC letter advises that this is to alleviate congestion during peak times.
Once again the little man is affected. If you are a charter operator in say a Baron going in to pick up a customer in the morning and returning in the afternoon to drop him off you will incur a $600 charge.
If any of you know any politicians or media types please let them know immediately so that we can get rid of this charge. It's just what we don't need right now in the depths of a recession.

I was there for a week recently - cost me $60 to land and $30/day for parking.
I was going to hop over to YRED to refuel, but that would have cost another $60 so I stayed put. Had to attend at 2200 to get the FTDK topped up cause they only to AVGAS at night.
$150/movement? I guess I won't be going into YBBN again!

The thing that really gets up my nose is that they have no frigging idea what constitutes busy. As those of you who have flown in the USA or Europe would know Friday morning peak hour in Brisbane is not even close to busy. Its a joke this impost of higher fees. A cynical way of making more money.

YRED and YCAB will no doubt get more visitors then.
I was thinking Toowoomba and Maroochydore were looking pretty good - at least you can get a rental car at either!
Lets face it, there's no where to park at YRED, and ...........
........well, YCAB is still probably the crappiest aerodrome in Oz (for the number of aircraft based there)!
Dr
It's already that or more in Melb/Syd
...Never thought I'd be defending Macquarie Airports!
Peak Periods are:
AM: 7am - 10am EST
AM: 7am - 10am EST
PM: 4pm – 7pm EST
Outside those times the fees are unchanged at $60 for a lightie.
I can live with that.
Dr
PS: Thank God! I thought for a minute that I might have to go to YCAB!
