Demand for Apprentices

Hello

Anyone prepared to hazard a guess at the prospects for AME apprenticeships over the short term? At the moment I am getting the impression that things are pretty tight.

Particularly for the more mature age person with other professional skills.

Cheers

Qantas are looking for 2011.

Look at the careers section on their website.

Their 2010 intake have already started, it is may already, when would you expect the next intake to start?

What, do you want a long drawn out recruitment process. Let the kids finish school first!

Registrations of interest are being accepted.

Qantas has employed many mature age apprentices.

Sorry but Registrations of interest are being accepted is nothing more these days than HR Departments collecting details they usually don,t even bother to acknowledge that they received your details.

So Jethro, would you prefer Qantas to not recruit apprentices next year?

With all the cold water your pouring on it!

The facts at this time are:

Interest in 2011 apprenticeships are being taken.

100 apprentices were hired in 2010.

Qantas has 1, 2 ,3 and 4th year apprentices employed.

Quota positions for AME's in most ports have been agreed to by QF/AMWU/AWU/CEPU.

LAME positions for AME's have been filled. 738, 330 and come to mind. And the first AME's are on A380 now with more doing B1 training.
