Which Qantas 747 just got parked?
Seems a QFA 747-400 just landed in the California desert. Anyone know which one???

Yep, VH-OJK, "The Manila Bomber" 
OEC and OED went last year with OGD. OJK has just gone with OJH going as well. There was talk of OJF and OJR but that might have changed. When dugong #10 arrives then it will be 1 744 leave for every 380 arrival. But that is likely to change if there is a sudden upsurge of passenger numbers.

Not meaning to be picky, but...
Bear in mind that -OJA was delivered over 20 years ago; even the first of the ERs (-OEE) is approaching 8 years old. Hence anything with RRs approaching a D would have to be fair game.
Try the Trading Post. Probably not much more than a pair of jousting sticks or an overhead projector, otherwise tell 'im 'e's dreamin' .

Don't fly one, never have, and no longer have any desire to (or any other long-haul machine for that matter, as my attention span just isn't suited to that kind of flying - in fact, I find anything longer than two hours these days becomes rather mind-numbing). Nevertheless every time I find myself sitting at the 16R holding point at YSSY - watching one touch down right in front of me - I think to myself that the 747 remains one of the most magnificent flying machines ever conceived. It truly was a game changer, and after more than forty years, it still looks right. Hats off to the remarkable people at Boeing who designed and built it.

All that money spent patching her up.....and she is gone!
I suppose if you were capacity strapped like they were at the time you had to do it, but in hindsight if you could have scrapped her in 2008

Presumably the patch-up was an insurance job so on that basis, why not get some more mileage out of her before the next D-check?

At that point, how many 744s will have already gone? After -OQF's arrival and including -OJF and -OJR in the disposal list, they seem to be running at 1:1 at the moment.

The current plan to retire VH-OGB, VH-OGC and VH-OJF, has now changed. They will be staying in the fleet, for the time being.
So the aircraft in VCV are VH-OEC/D, VH-OJK, VH-OGA/D.
