Question Thread search help

Hello fellow PPRuNers,
I have been searching this site for three days for a thread detailing the exploits of a pilot from zero to hero. I read it and highly enjoyed it a while back and was going for a second helping only to realise I failed to bookmark the thread.

From memory, the thread itself was a few years old and the pilot in question had managed to suffer tyre blow outs in a 146 (the hostie commented "That tyre blow out was interesting" or some such) experienced some scud running trying to get into Christmas Island with min fuel and probably the funniest part was when they, as an instructor, "borrowed" somone's light twin at night only to have a gear and or electrical system malfunction.

It was a cracking good read and would love it if someone could point me in the thread's direction. It was by an Aussie, but not sure if it was in D&G or elsewhere.

I have a similar problem from time to time.

Last I enquired the sticking point came down to a maximum number of results which can be returned by the search - at that time, 500. Another problem involved a major database crash some years ago and that is about as far back as you can go but I suspect that that won't be a problem from your post information.

Solution - keep refining your search parameters to keep within this limit. At worst you might have to limit to individual, likely, forums and then play with the date filter.

Have you tried going to google and searching some phrases that you definitely remember word for word ? (make sure you write siteprune.org after the search items)

Thank you chaps. I have tried unsuccessfully putting search terms into google and must have trawled over a thousand threads using the search function looking for this one. I don't think it was a victim of the server crash, for I read it maybe twelve months ago?
At least the forums doesn't make you wait between searches these days.
