Has anyone heard anything with regards to direct entry FO recruitment? I would think I’ve got an attractive resume with regards to aviation experience and I’ve had an application in for a few months now yet heard nothing.

Not long after their focus was cadet hiring. Rightly or wrongly it was the time. Direct entries are sort after, but you need to update every 2 weeks minimum. Change anything in your application, that'll send you to the top of the pile. They don't need to dig deep for applications. Rightly or wrongly.
Good luck.

The cadetship is a cash cow for them. Charge an over the top amoint for training then bind them with substandard terms and conditions.
Wouldn't surprise me if they didn't rehire the crews they stood down in favour of 'training' a massive batch of cadets.

Can you elaborate on some of the 'substandard terms and conditions' provided by REX?
I'm looking at applying for their cadetship next year so any info is useful. Also - how does it compare to other ones in Australia?
Nothing wrong with it but there are vastly different views on this topic - I've had a graduate (and current REX employee) speak highly of it whilst others detest it?

Apologies to add to the millions of these posts.
Anyone heard anything regarding the Rex 026 intake? AAPA website says they'll start in Oct 2020 but Rex says Early 2020 - assuming either the 'rona or just not being needed on mainline caused the pushback.
Personally submitted an application about 6 weeks ago and still haven't heard anything, refraining from calling just yet as the application confirmation specifically said not to. Hopefully get through to at least WOMBAT but we shall see.

Hi all,
Nice to revive this thread after 2 years. Was just wondering what candidates' experiences have been with the interview and sim flight in Wagga.
I passed my WOMBAT and will be heading down soon.
Thanks!

The in person interview was very similar to the phone interview, I got a lot of the same technical questions. Expect them to mostly about whatever aircraft you fly, and a couple of basic questions about the saab. These are meant to be pitched at your current level, although in hindsight I copped a few that were beyond the scope of my training at that time.
They ask the expected questions: why Rex, why do you want to be a pilot, what research did you do to prepare for this interview, do you have any leadership experience, etc. Didn't get many behavioural questions.
The sim was just about doing some basic straight and level turns, maybe some climbing and descending. No landings. I probably tanked this as I'd never flown a sim before and didn't have any kind of instrument scan going that early.
Overall it was a pretty weird experience, going from the wombat test where I didn't see a single person other than a receptionist, to driving 6 hours for an interview to meet two people in a dingy office. Didn't get any feedback after requesting it after either, just silence.
