Question Float plane incident talbot bay?

Grapevine just informed me of a possible incident yesterday with a floatplane going over in Talbot bay near the Horizontal waterfalls. Anyone got any idea who or what it was? Hope everyone is ok.

"Gear is up for a water landing".....perhaps not this time.

Also heard that it was IMU. Pretty sure that operator has just lost 2 experienced float guys mid season.

And with the Otter now residing in Alaska, he would be all out of float planes.

Is anyone sure it was IDO not IMU, is that the Beaver hired from Goldcoast seaplanes. Has to be a gear down water landing I would think, does anyone know anymore.

yup, was definitely IDO. Gear was down in the pics as well.
Woot..... you tube should be good soon then.
good thing no one is hurt...... might just add, as the pilot managed to avoid all schools and aged care facilities, he is a dead set hero.

Was definately IDO, hired from Goldcoast, definately wheels down, but it was the General Manager not the CP/Owner....and as Bla Bla Bla said, it definately matters!!

Mr 69 and Bla Bla, I also agree that it matters who it was due to the unfortunate trend that seems to have occured over the years. However, lets just be happy that all got out alive. The pilot did suffer some nasty cuts etc. This could have been a lot worse than it ended up being. I'm sure his family are just happy to have him back alive. So regardless of what you think of the guy or the operation, just remember that there could have been deaths and nobody wants that.

Yep I couldn't agree more, how will they recover the a/c its a pretty remote spot up there. What's the normal damage after a wheels down water landing anyone have any experience. Does it normally damage the airframe/wings apart from the salt water getting everywhere.

No need for picks or video.... water landing with gear up, pretty straight forward... landing gear hits water, aeroplane flips upside down violently.... lots of splash.... silent after about 15 seconds.... heads pop up under water.... all o.k. .... happy ending .... aeroplane sinks slowly upside down..... rescue arrives... all o.k.....insurance company takes cover....

Glad to see everyone alright

... errrr ummm, followed by an uneventful water landing. I'm no expert but do you mean gear down then the big splash?

A spokesman for the Australian Transport Safety Bureau said that based on comments by the operator and other reports it had been decided not to investigate the incident. -TheWest.com.au
WTF? That's a reasonably quick turn-around. I'm not saying an investigation is warranted but it seems a bit out of the norm this early on.
