Anyone Know What It Was??

Unusual aircraft flying around Bridge pa, Hastings, N.Z. on Saturday 25 July. Grunty sounding radial (single), retractable undercart with nose wheel, similar size to a Harvard, but sounded like a much larger capacity engine. Quite fast too. Anyone know what it was??

Only thing that jumps to mind is possibly the Trojan normally based at Ardmore - that would fit your description?

I think you might be right

Thanks NZFK,
Pretty sure now that you are correct, can't think of anything else that would match. Great sound, but not as good as the Mustangs that the Trojans replaced.
