MECIR, where to do it?
Latrobe Valley Aero Club do an excellent instrument rating, and they get to know you as a person. C310 or Travelair, and they let you do the seven hours on the twin as part of the IFR navexes, rather than the ripoff of making you fly seven hours in the twin VFR before starting the rating, that some schools seem to like.

I wanted to do mine with Jamie and Kev (i.e. @ Johnston's), but they had shut 2 days before I sent off my request. I had already booked with Curtis Aviation in Camden by the time they re-opened.
Rob Marshall was excellent. All the flying is done in the Twin Comanche (with Aspen 1000 glass) and their elite AT -11i Sim. Full-time in exactly 4 weeks.

My 2 cents worth
I went to Coast Jet (Johnston's Aviation Services) a few years ago. I completed my MECIR in less than 3 weeks on a Baron and paid approx 13K for it. I was accomodated for free the entire time. I was given unlimited access to the simulators and I believe I received training of the highest quality from highly experienced GA Instructors.
I made some excellent contacts through fellow students. Graduates of the MECIR program at this school have an excellent reputation in the industry.
I recommend this school to anyone.
