Thumbs up Back in the sky again!

Hi Dudes,

In Dec 2002 I was flying AeroCommanders doing bank runs with GAM. I was based in Adelaide. I fell off a motorbike in late Dec and broke my back and damaged my spinal cord. I got a huge amount of support from ppruners at the time. Thank you guys. here is the post from back then http://www.pprune.org/dg-p-general-a...-adelaide.html

So since then I have been in a wheelchair as i cant move or feel anything from my waist down. Before my accident I had skydived 37 times and last week I became the first licenced paraplegic skydiver in Australia and the 2nd in the world.

Here is the vid of my last jump YouTube - daleeIIiott's Channel

Next week i am going to NZ to do the first solo paraplegic skydive there. I also want to get across to the US and be the first there too!

Anyway, just wanted to pop in and say hi, i had many great mates on pprune and thought id let you know what im doing.

I am also writing a book at the moment called "Dealing with sh!t" and it will be a good read for you pilots!

Rock on!

Dale

G'day Dale,

What an inspiration! Great to see that you are making your life count and are enjoying life to the full despite the hardships! Congratulations on your huge achievements and all the best with the plans for NZ and USA - got no doubt you'll make it happen.

Your TT video clip was great - good to see the media actually did something right for once...! Most of us would have no idea of what it would be like to live your life yet you do it with a smile and a laugh without the slightest expectation of sympathy.

Let us know when your book is out and how we can get it. Would love to buy it and support you and the fantastic work you do.

More power to you mate!

G'day Dale,
Keep at it! I'm in the line for the book as well.

Hi Dale,

Great effort, well done. I have just read a great book called "Let Fly" by Barry Cardno, an excellent read. Let Fly! : A Young Topdressing Pilot's Story

Let Fly! captures the keen spirit of a young man embarking on his lifelong dream to become a pilot. But for Barry Cardno the thrill of flying soon gives way to a pervading sense of unease as he confronts the solitary nature and constant danger inherent in aerial topdressing in rural New Zealand.
Unflinchingly Barry describes how at the age of twenty-one his ambitions are shattered in an instant. He candidly reveals the highs and the lows of his courageous rehabilitation, as well as the difficulties and frustrations of rebuilding his life as a paraplegic.
You never know, you may be able to get you wings back someday like Barry.

Good Luck

Goodonya Mate!!! Just in case you're interested???...I believe Graham White...very experienced instructor based South Coast NSW has or is training some blokes at Temora who may be in your situation or at least similar. The aircraft is modified appropriately and approved with hand controls. I know in the past Cherokees have had the mods done.

Keep going

Dale well done fella. I remember your story. You've made a go of what you've been left with and its a remarkable effort at that.

In the same era there was another young Dale that was living in Darwin. He's been dead for a few years now and we haven't forgetton him either. He passed away in an accident in Mc Arther River in a Baron.

So the key is to keep doing what your doing and living your life to the max.
