I'm liking the ideas guys, keep em' coming. Hadn't even thought of the idea of a big p1ss up, but bloody liking it. Was fixated on flying ideas.

Will get back to ya Razor re the Harbour Bridge, why not for a laugh? Could work in nicely with the goblin's idea!(forced retirement though....)

Wash your mouth out with soap, then find a spitfire

That mile high thread shut down yesterday mentioned a bloke who had set himself up in business. There was a gleek plick at Essendon with a PA31 a few years ago whose business card made it plain the clientele he wanted to attract.
Claimed the pilot would pull about 4 G if asked to.

If you fly commercially, spend $1000 on loss of licence insurance.

Congratulations - most boring answer so far.

Buy $900 worth of booze and $100 worth of food and get the crew around. The FEWER, the better.

Do a seaplane rating, or get tailwheel time .. (even if you never use them again.. just another little celebration of variety)

I just checked and I am up for 33 yrs in a little over a month. We used to celebrate hours, particularly 10,000 & 20,000 and so on, doesnt seem to happen any more.
I have been lucky enough to fly a few different warbirds, jets (Mig) and prop, (T28 T6 ++) however the most enjoyable memories I have were playing around, in a Tiger. If I was going to spend $1000 I would do an hour or two in one of them and have a BBQ with some mates and a few beers. A "stripper" wouldn't go astray either.

Ren,

Different economy for you, you'd definately be able to get a "cheap stripper" in Darwin for way less than two cartons, perhaps a carton of goon or "lady in the bottle" ?.

Dave, don't waste the fun tokens on flying, a boozy boat trip, boozy winery tour, boozy arvo with the family down the local, a boozy fishing/hunting trip with the boys, I'm certain you can see the pattern here........

I am coming up on 40 years in July.

I am planning on a nice dinner party at a nice retrauant. I will invite my family, some close friends and anyone I can think of who has helped me, mentored me or encouraged me in my aviation career.

I will also bring some photos of some of the good times I have had, some of the places I have been, some of the people I have met, and some of the planes I have flown. I will probably tell ome stories, and I am sure those attending will tell some too.

It am hoping we all have a very good time.

Sadly, some of my best flying friends are no longer with us. So there will be a toast to them too.

Then.... On to Oshkosh for the EAA convention and another 40 years of flying fun.

A different way to spend the cash and celebrate??..... assuming you're commercially rated and working in the industry.

1. A bag of heroin
2. A willing sheep
3. A copy of Bad Boy Bubby playing on the big screen
4. A room at the Old Crest Hotel in the X.

Combine the above elements with a web cam and share with your flying mates!
Worked a treat in the service!

Put on a keg at the Aero Club when I passed the 1,000 hours, and tried to encourage others to make it a tradition. Passed the 40th Commercial year last year, so at the Club barbeque bought a few rounds. Only one other member from those Victa/Piper/Cessna times still in the club. She has over 500 hours now..but is a grandmother.. Maybe I wont be around if she gets to 1,000..

Hire a Cirrus and fly it up to hooker creek and pull the chute. Ah what a lovely time you will have. Pulling the chute that is!
