Sad News - Darwin Institute Final Days
Colleague from Darwin tells me that the "stute" will be closing it doors this week. Final night is Thurs 23rd April. Love to get up there for it, but notice was too short.
Had some really fun nights there, especially Friday nights. Every one went there on a Friday night!
I guess the "booze buses" have spoilt the fun these days.

Tinnpis did you stagger, stumble, fall or crawl through the front door by any chance?
Bring back the AirNorth porn and prawn nights from the 80's, nothing like a kultural event to look forward too at the end of the week.
Welcome to the Nanny Territory.

Can anyone inform me on who owns is, whether the land is leased/owned and who runs it?
I always thought it would be a profitable little venture if run right, does anyone still go there?

mmm, some good days there in the 90's... twas the place to get the drum on jobs and introduce yourself by buying a few "cleansers" for someone with the connections but it wasn't a patch on the south-side Darwin Aero Club, with Gwedo playing around in his Sabre (MIG?) on a friday arvo fly-by, or the Westwind on a fly-by on departure.
Sad to here about the 'Stute though.
Where to next up there boys?

Nothing like being at the aero club, cold stubby in hand watching the RAAF and other top guns come back in beat the aerodrome up at dot feet, during the war games was good value.
The late afternoon four ship FA-18 beat up of Rwy 29 and then break left for a circuit was better than any airshow act.
