Jeppesen ERC Charts

So you are planning a flight from Alice Springs to MT Isa.

Am I blind or are Jeppesen really stupid and the only charts that would cover the leg if you joined them together are ERC LO 3 and ERC LO 4, but pity the #4 is on the back of 3!!!!!

And don't say use a HI. chart :-)

Time to go find my airservices charts again.

Jepp figure nobody in their right mind would want to fly from Alice to Isa!

Oh, hang on a mo - I need to do that next month!

So what is so hard about planning Alice to ANZAC (see MA MT ISA on J64 at the top of AU(LO)4), and then planning ANZAC to Isa (see ALICE SPRINGS AS on J64 at the bottom of AU(LO)3)?

Sorry - I just don't get the problem!

Dr

PS: ..... and you can always use AU(HI)9!

Sooooo...........turn it over. What's the problem?

One barely needs #4 if you use the AS TAC anway. If you still feel you want a seperate bit of paper that covers the Jervois area, then make an A4 sized photocopy of that bit. Easy.

Am I blind or are Jeppesen really stupid?
Well.........I'm assuming you've passed your medical, so I'll move onto Jeppesen and just ask "why do we want all these overlapping areas to further weigh down our nav bags???? It's not like the tracks don't specify where they're headed when they reach the chart border anyway.

Maybe they are trying to do the ATPL Nav exam and can't use this chart. I used Jepps a while ago for the Nav exam without any problems. Check all the ERC charts in Jepps to find the one that suits.

ksa, the photocopy solution on a 1:1 replication would still work for exam purposes. Otherwise, beg, borrow or steal a chart of the previous vintage and just plot from the lat/long for the diversion or whatever the q is asking.

No good getting upset with Jepp, I'm sure one could construct a question using appropriate waypoints that would cause headaches with the boundaries of Airservices charts.

All else failing, replicate the lat/long grid onto plain paper to extend the chart.

Good luck with it.

I did ask Jepp if they would consider a chart based on Alice Springs 10 years ago when doing some work in Alice Springs.
Unfortunately only a handful of pilots were effected and I was the only one who had ever asked.

I'm currently based in AS and have no issues whatsoever with the Jepp ERCs...
