Aeroplane Flight Review
CAAP 5.81-1 (0): Flight Crew Licensing Reviews Subsection 7.1 'Substitutes for a flight review' mentions that a satifactorily completed proficiency check with an entry to that effect in the log book will suffice. Does anyone know if this means a recent flight check with an instructor (circuits or an endorsement on a new a/c that included steep turns, PFL, stall, circuits etc) is enough to meet these flight review requirments for PPL or CPL licensed pilot?

If by new type you mean a warrior vs the 172 you've been flying.....nnnnno.
The AFR requires you to demonstrate enough knowledge in the areas of current rules and procedures, license allowances (not sure if I can spell priviledges), navigation, flight planning, weight and balance and p-charts, currency etc IN ADDITION to you demonstrating practical ability. It is not a test, but you need to statisfy the instructor you can get through the next two years till your next check.
Another way of looking at it is if you were to plant yourself sometime in the next two years, would your instructor be able to front the man in the white wig conducting the coronial inquiry and tell him he was satisfied you could COMPETENTLY exercise your rights when he signed off your log book.
I get too many people who after the first hour of theory tell me their last check was two circuits. Utter C*RAP.
Some may think this is excessive, but it's my name in your log book saying you are a competent pilot for the next two years.
If your type check had enough of this material included as a sticky strip issue (NEW type, not addition within an existing class endorsement), ask your instructor. Don't rely on a rumour forum for a definitive answer.
