Wheels Up Landing at Archerfield this Arvo
Just saw a live feed on TV at around 5pm, looked like a 172RG that had only one set of wheels down.
Pilot made a pretty good landing, wheel popped back up as soon as it hit the runway. Looks like both guys walked away safe.

Sounds like news.com.au can't report anything decent about the incident:
atminimums & MCKES - you're famous!
PROFESSIONAL pilots have paid tribute to the two men who landed a light plane on its belly at the Archerfield Airport west of Brisbane this afternoon.
The light plane had to circle for a few minutes after its landing gear failed and it was stuck with only one wheel down.
atminimums told the PPrune online pilot forum that the pilots made a good landing.
Writer Mckes said: "Just saw it on the news congratulations to both pilots, excellent landing." The two pilots landed safely and shook hands after escaping the plane.

Both the instructor and student displayed outstanding professionalism and airmanship. Listening on frequency both just got on with the job and flew the aeroplane.
The instructor and student worked as a professional team using challenge and response to go through the check lists. Both got the aircarft down safely.
The prop has been claimed, after the insurance assessor has agreed, and both will get an equal share - a great bar decoration for the future.

Oh come on, it was a mechanical failure in a retractable trainer which has the fuselage strengthened for such an occurance, hardly a test of airmanship or risk to their wellbeing...But it gave the news guys something to report other than Obama..hell of a way to get a Bar decoration, Sphincter valve pucker value would have been high though

gees, what a bunch of negative A Holes some people can be
An instructor and student have safely done a wheels up landing and remained very calm whilst doing so, it could have ended up a lot worse.
So the aircraft may be designed to withstand such a landing in moderate safety, dose this mean we should not commend the pilots for their efforts?
Congratulations Guys despite what one or two others have said, I think you did a great job!

So hang on a minute, I must be a bit mis leaded here, Wheels up is standard ops? Hmm must remember to take the gear off next time I go flying, Because it is so easy and is rather safe?
Congrats to the crew.
Great experience for the future.
D'dangler, superb comeback there.
CEO, well directed support.
Have you got a return comment for Dangler?

Nope - no need.
The thread is not about scoring points - it's all about a great landing which has resulted in very minimal damage to the aircraft. Two young guys did a great job!

Well done guys.
So many pilot's have died trying to save the aircraft rather than themselves. One very close to the RQAC. A direct quote from an insurer many years ago regarding gear up landings. "If you have a problem with the aircraft like that, it now belongs to me as the insurer. Landing the aircraft as normally as possible will actually save everyone money. If you try to stop the prop, key it round to level, you will probably do something wrong and drop short. It is cheaper for me to pay for a bulk strip and new prop than a funeral."
So there you have it. These guys did everything by the book and it worked!
CEOAAA, please pass on my congratulations to the two involved.

Like they say...ant ldg you walk away from is a good ldg"
Top job.
What's the U/C for anyway? apart from allowing the prop to stay away from the ground on T/Off it's there so the plane can be used more than once
