BOSE Headset

Having a few problems with my BOSE ANR Headset. From time to time i will get a whistling sound in the left ear. It goes away with the ANR turned off but will come back when the ANR is turned back on. It doesnt always do it but just recently it has started again.

Anyone with any ideas with what it could be and what to do about it?

Is it a whistling, or more of hum? If it's a hum I had a similar problem, turned out there was a minute crack in the plastic which was giving off a vibration, the ANR then tries to offset that frequency, which it can't always do if it's out of the specific range it is designed for!

Sent mine back to the manufacturer and problem solved! If I were you, I would send it back even if it is out of warranty, Bose are quite helpful!

Yes, but what do 'professional' pilots wear?

PS: I had you picked as a 'fancy pants headset' wearer for sure...

Thanks HH. Would you still have any details of where you sent them back to? BOSE in the states? Can you PM me those details if you remember

Give Bose a call for sure, they are very helpful. I had a microphone go on my Bose headset a little while ago. Called them, they took credit card details over the phone, the new microphone was on my doorstep by courier the next day.

common fault

I get a high pitched scream in my right earmuff , usually happens on late finals in the C-185 , I think it's my passenger/ operator.
Seriously , my bose did the same thing after they got warmed up , faulty component in the ANC circuit , possibly damaged during the landing phase , bose fixed it.

Gday Horatio Leafblower

I’ve been wearing DC 13.4’s for years and last year I received a Bose headset as a present and now there is no way I would go back to them especially in 337’s, it also cost a fortune replacing the gel ear seals.

Cheers Q

QNIM>

not going back to the Bose or the DCs? The Bose ear pads are $20. That's $20 for each one, not both.

There's some funny puckers in here,
Hey Dr I've not yet found a good reason to use a whiz wheel yet. I have a very old warped one but like you would be lucky to do time over dist these days with it, thank God for GPS & in yr case X4

Innteresting t read comments about both Bose & DC. We at work where supplied DC ANR sets not that long ago & most found them to be crap, me included. In a noisy environment they are all but useless. Was going to look inot the Bose units but may very well give that a miss also after reading they are sus also. So tnxs for the heads up you 'fancy pants' users

Maybe, but they don't split and leave a blob of hair gel behind your ear!
