Canadian CPL- Instructor rating in NZ?

Greetings.
As the title says I am holder of a Canadian CPL and looking for an Instructor rating in New Zealand.

But why?

Well besides the fact that it's a beautiful country and people are so nice and helpfull....
My girl badly wants to move over there.

My question would be if any of you would recommend a school, and any other constructive advice will be welcome as well.
Thanks for your help.
Cheers

Wellington Aero Club are always looking for instructors. Not sure what's required for converting from Canadian to a NZ CPL though - try NZ CAA at Civil Aviation Authority of New Zealand . Great city, great ... ok the weather isn't always the nicest but a fun place to live. For contacts go to Wellington Aero Club

I shouldn't think it would be a difficult changeover - you would almost definately have to do the CPL law exam as a minimum, along with essentially a BFR, then if you don't already have an instructor rating, do one on your new NZ licence. Some places offer the instructor rating paid for on a bond/time basis, otherwise you'll have to buy 26 hours at around NZ$200/hr, a ITC course at about NZ$1k, ground course at about NZ$2k, and the flight test at NZ$1100 + aircraft hire.

And from your experience, do you get to work for the school after that?

Depends on where your missues wants to go in NZ. But basically there seems to be a real shortage of instructors here atm... Make sure you get the low down on the conditions of working for an outfit, some places expect you to work for nothing or close to it.

Thanks anyways for the tip, it's a good thing your missing some pilots and it looks like you don't see foreigners as invaders from another planet...

If you end up at Ardmore be very careful what part of South Auckland you get accomodation. The rents are low for a reason. People lying on the side of the road could be drunk or on Meth. Police drive by fast looking straight ahead. On the other hand, the flea markets are a colourful multicultural experience

Interesting METAR/TAF you got there!!
Well I guess it makes the trainning even more valuable then.
I just got a positive respond from Wellington Aero Club, although they don't offer a fixed course but indeed there seems to be a shortage of instructors in NZ. They forgot to answer my question about the price, do you have an approximate idea?
