Travel to the Tiwi Islands

With the rumour mill going nuts in regard to Ausjet Darwin, it got me thinking what would happen to Tiwi Travel.

I understand there has been quite a few operators doing RPT to the islands over the years. When one goes down/pulls out is it the case of who can get up and running first? Or has there been buyouts in the past?

A couple of operators I know of:
Tiwi Travel ??? - Now
Eastland Air ??? - ??? (what did they run? 'Twotter?)
Air North ??? (in a C208?)

I'm sure it would be a money maker considering there is still piston RPT done in this day and age when most other piston routes have gone by the wayside.

If you know of other operators/types used......

Other operators/types :

Wimray - PA31, BE58, quote often paired with a freight plane (the mighty IJB)

Air Ngukurr - PA31, C310, BE58, E110

Airnorth - C402

Possibly also Arnhem Air Charter / (Kakadu Air) in the 1990's ?????

By the way, usually on the way back to Darwin for runway 11, we were recleared "track direct Bagot (community)(locator)"...only makes sense as that's where the pax probably came from/went to

BTI return was the main "cash cow" for Ausjet NT.

Shortly before I left there, Vincent were doing around 5 runs per week (for Tiwi Travel) to BTI and back in a B1900.

Not sure who'd take over the Snake Bay/Garden point runs, though.

DIVOSH!

Bring back the mighty DC-3's VH-MMA and VH-CAN courtesy of Air North.
