First jobs in the east
After observing pprune from afar for a while, I am making my first post to ask for advice or suggestions regarding the possibiliy of scoring a first job as close to Sydney as possible.
Along with many other newbies, I have a ME/CIR and PA-31 endorsement and am now looking the first gig with 300 TT.
I realise I will be flying a single inititially, but the real issue is wanting to stay fairly close to Sydney or at least somewhere in the east to make getting home on the odd occasion a bit easier.
Thanks in advance for any thoughts or tips before I bit the bullet and head to the top end.

HA, yeah, right, .
If it's a windup, good stuff, been a while since we've had one. I'll lay first claim to being the first sucker.
If it's not a windup.... Honestly mate, I think you're chances are quite slim. I didn't say impossible (given the current state of the industry), however still slim.
With no real twin time and total time behind you, people are probably going to be less inclined to hire you. And seeing there aren't too many single jobs (unless you want to instruct) on the east coast around those parts, you really need some multi time before you try and hit anyone up for a job.
However, been a while since I was down in those parts, so if things have changed, good luck.
Cheers

First jobs
I know of a couple of lucky ones that haven't had venture too far away from civilisation, but they are certainly very few and far between.
Thanks for your thoughts Morno.

But on a serious note, if you don't have anything keeping you in Sydney (kids?) why not leave?
I don't get the obsession with Sydney/NSW!!!! (maybe it's because Im from QLD). There is so much more to Australia than that tiny little part. Even if you have a missus bring her with you! I could be the adventure of a lifetime....

If this isn't a wind-up
Maaate,
The edge of the known universe ISN'T Newcastle/Richmond/Woollongong!
Unless there's a wife/family/mortgage holding you back, why not go out and see the rest of the country? There's plenty of flying out there, and it's a pretty nice way to see other parts of Oz!
My 2c!

Yep. Paid for it so that when I'm ready for a twin gig I at least have one in my logbook along with 15 hours ICUS on type. That was my thinking anyway.
It's not as though I've shelled out $20K for it.

Which has nothing to do with TwinTime's aviation scholastic and financial achievements!

O.K. We have been told to get back on the subject.
TwinTime
Forget the east. It will only bring you poverty.
Go north, west, south. Get out of Sydney boy, see the real Australia, you will not regret it. Good luck!

solution to your problem
Mate,
do yourself a favour and saddle up your pony and head on up to Brisbane. Send a resume to great western aviation - all chieftains. Mr Morris is the head honcho - hard man, plenty of flying, and if you turn up with polished boots and the right attitude, you might stand a chance. heard through the grapevine some of his minimums have dropped. be prepared to get a second job though.... but there are much worse places to live than Brisbekistan!
Best of luck chief!
