Federal Government's FEE-HELP Scheme, who/what qualifys for it?
I was reading about the Qantas Swinburne Associate Degree Program,
What other degrees/courses qualify for FEE-HELP?
Cadets may wish to use the Federal Government's FEE-HELP Scheme to offset a large portion of the up-front costs of the Associate Degree. Whilst utilising FEE-HELP an Associate Degree Cadet could expect to offset up to $80,000. This includes but is not limited to the cost of University tuition fees for the Associate Degree including flight training competencies.

Griffith University double degree program of Bachelor of Aviation and Grad Dip of Flight Management - despite what anyone else suggests no other courses qualify.

Swinburne degree as of next year.

FEE-HELP Now Available for Flying Training From 2009 students undertaking the Bachelor of Aviation or Bachelor of Aviation / Bachelor of Business programs will be able to concurrently undertake flying training by enrolling in the newly accredited Graduate Certificate of Aviation (Piloting). Undertaking the optional full fee Graduate Certificate of Aviation (Piloting) will enable eligible students to access Commonwealth assistance for the flying training.
From what I understand, it covers flying training that is in the syllabus. But I believe with fee-help that you are required to pay an extra 20% for the loan.

Not quite Oz Vegemite, as QF2 pointed out, Swinbourne also offers this course with FEE-HELP, and yeah, the 20% can be a real kicker in some cases. I mean its all great you don't have to pay it off until you get to a certain pay level etc... but it is a fairly large sum in the end!! Add on top all your uni courses as well and instead of paying the $70,000 for all your CPL, NVFR, MECIR etc... your looking at $100,000+.
I personally suggest anyone looking at this course also thinks long and hard at the pros and cons of this versus some sort of Loan if it is available to them.

I know of a few people who have gone on after Griffith Uni and gotten jobs with QLink, your just as qualified in terms of flying as anyone else except you have a degree which some of the airlines look more highly upon apparently.
Thing you have to remember is that you come out with all the same Flying Qualifications as anyone else, theres no difference in what you need to be able to pass those qualifications, all the same exams and flying aspects but you complete the degree which means you could have better knowledge of other areas. For example there are some courses on Aviation Business if i remember correctly which is meant to prepare you more.
But as i pointed out it becomes a bit of a toss up in terms of money. Depends on where you want to go in your aviation career, how quickly you want to get there and were you plan to end up.
