Brisbash 08' or is it?
I know...earlier than most years to be posting this, but I figure, why not!
2 Date options
December 13th Saturday
December 20th Saturday
I'm thinking we should change venue and city this year
How's Cairns sound?
And if that doesn't work, then its the Breakky Creek - the one place in Brisvegas that keeps taking us back year after year
If you have not been before, this is a 'tradition' that started in YMML in 2002 I think - all welcome!
It's Festive season drinks in a casual setting and the food's good
You can register your intent here.....hopefully I've not lost my 'pull' with the bosses and they let the thread live
Cheers!

Early in December preferred - not 20th.
Please not the Brekkie Creek again......
Any chance of a quieter suburban location this year, possibly one with accommodation - I'm tired of soft drinks as I'm driving?
I think you may attract a few more attendees if you found a better suburban location?
I'll go with the flow but how about a barbie somewhere?

Please not the Brekkie Creek again......
- Packed with far too many people for a country kid;
- No parking available;
- There was a ten minute queue to the loo last year; and
- Too noisy, couldn't hear myself think!

Few suggestions;
Close'ish to the city
The Park in New Farm with the Brisbane Powerhouse and Watt Bar only being a stones throw away.
Eat and Drink - Brisbane Powerhouse
:: WATT :: modern dining
Public transport is not far away, plenty of accomodation either in the valley or CBD, with public transport making them easily accessible.
West
The Regatta hotel in Toowong, about 5Km's from the city with bus, ferry and train access very close.

South
The Pineapple hotel, Kangaroo Point, renowned for it's steaks. Haven't been there myself, but has a good reputation.
Pineapple Hotel - pineapple hotel steak steakhouse steak house pineapple hotel gaming beer garden beergarden counter
The Story Bridge Hotel, another good venue with accomodation and public transport being close by. Hotel Pub Food Functions Drink Restaurant Bar Brisbane, Queensland, Australia - Story Bridge Hotel,

Cairns has new watering hole IF you go up there...
Blue Sky Brewery
Opened last week apparently, 5 beer varieties brewed on-site and the woody ale is rather scrummy (poured out of a wooden cask like the brekky creek front bar).
When one pees (male) one way glass has one looking at the beer being made (copper vats, plumbing and chaps beavering away). Rather bizarre IMO but different.

So, Saturday 13th December

Isn't it interesting that the gent(?) in question hasn't responded here to defend his dishonour!
I regret to say that 13 December isn't good for me. As you'll know GG, I've had some rather lengthy and unscheduled time off work lately and suspect that the boss won't be too happy to give me my normal time off for Chrissy and NY. However, even if that's possible, it won't happen early enough to meet the 13th December.
I'd been thinking in terms of the 20th of December, when I began thinking about my time off this year... before my urgent sojourn to CNS.

hey - instead of trashing your AU residence, why don't you all sojourn o/s and trash the new place??
Much better idea .. all the fun and no mess!!
alas, we have a prior engagement on the west coast on the 21st - so we 2 will be otherwise not there!!

Just spit-balling here but it seems a bit unlikely that Wiz will be at this bash. Maybe we can change his mind by assuring him that the attendance of overseas personnel will be strictly controlled.
(And then we welcome them all in great numbers, of course!)
So, GG, does this mean that I really MUST try to get the usual time off again this year?
