Constellation over ADL today?

Can anyone confirm that the aircraft that was joining a late ILS 23 app at about 4:20pm today was a Lockheed Constellation?

Yep thats her!

On her way west to Kal for some skimpy chicks.....

My hangar buddy is one of the skippers so I might have to grill him about "what goes on on tour"

Indeed,

and now it's parked out the front of the Qantas hangar. Wonder if we'll hear about it in the latest installment of the daily Qantas disaster report with one of thier aircraft shooting flames and leaking oil.

Mate..... if that thing does not shoot flames, something is wrong!

And if its not leaking oil, thats a definite sign of a disaster! It means its run out!

They cart around drums of the stuff, yes drums! Oil that is! But ya gotta love her!

Oil?

The Catalina used to have about 70 gallons of oil, and an oil crossfeed system.

Not so sure about the Skimpys, but the Super Connie does spend time in Kalgoorlie during the annual Diggers and Dealers mining conference.

Delegates go up for scenic flights over the town/super pit in the evenings. (Maybe Skimpys go too, I don't know.)

It makes a wonderful sound when out cutting laps.

Yep. I was walking down the main street of a country town back in 2000 when I heard an aircraft approaching. Knew what it was before I even looked up!

Pilots don't get to start the engines, the Flight Engineer does that.

Like the Cat she also has an oil crossfeed system from a central tank and to make sure it happens both electric and hydraulic transfer pumps.

Nothing like the sound, sight and smell of 4 X 18 cylinders

Av
Going by the responses that she gets everywhere she goes, there are a lot of people who think that she is the most beautiful bird ever built.
