Smile Real deal on the work visa/exemption for flight crew

Could not find the info that Jetstar was hiring on the 457 exemption. I was wondering what the REAL DEAL is on that exemption? If most of the airlines in OZ are short how come more are not hiring on it. REX/OZ etc... I had read that the government due to shortages was looking at relaxing the rules on foreign workers and not just in aviation. And just because you get an exemption does not mean you can get a Aus ATPL to fly Aust reg a/c. Are the airlines in Oz really short? And what do you guys/gals feel about foreingers working for the smaller of the airlines like Oz/Heavylift/Skippers etc. Just asking. Please try not to stone me.
