Enquiry re Crew Resource Management in NZ
Hi all, a quick question, hopefully someone may be able to point me in the right direction. I'm a qualified Brit Army CRM(I) but will be doing CAA accreditation prior to leaving the army next year. My wife and I are looking to emigrate to NZ next year, and I'm just trying to clarify if the aviation industry in NZ has any compulsory training in that field for all pilots (as opposed to the main airlines like Air NZ etc). I'm aware of Naef Ltd but i'm just trying to find out further info. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Bruce

Bruce,
You could contact Stu Graham at Contract Air Services in Christchurch...I know they supply Dangerous Goods Courses to some NZ operators, so may be interested in doing CRM too......no affiliation etc etc, just a suggestion.
Cheers and good luck.

Thanks guys. I guess I should've been clearer in the initial request. In the UK it is a mandatory requirement to undergo CRM trg with qual'd instructors in both the mil and civil fleets (not sure what the puddle jumpers do though). Just wondering if there were any possible in-roads etc as it's something that pays a bit back here.... The companies that provide trg also do trg for other industry in Human Factors trg. Thanks again.
On a different matter - is it better North or South Island?

If you want GREAT scenery, South Island.
If you want to be warm, move to Australia.
Seriously, I lived in the South Island and loved it. Spectacular mountain ranges and fiords etc. However the population of the SI is much lower, the towns are smaller, therefore there may be better job opportunities in the North Island. In general, the pay in NZ is low, so I don't think I'd be expecting any great salary as a CRM instructor, unless they're in demand.

Bruce, Nelson or Marlborough Sounds could be the go, zip across to Wellies where all those CAA crazies hang out, run a course or two and be back in time for din din.
I'd rather put on a coat.
