Red Harrison

I saw on the BBC News site, that Red Harrison, the veteran ABC/BBC journalist has died http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/7466037.stm

I used to enjoy his pieces on the ABC when I lived in Brisbane in the 80s and subsequently on the BBC. However I had no idea of the following:

...who also found time to indulge his passion for flying and military history.
Does anyone know more about his flying background?

About 10 years back (give or take) he was part owner of a Beech 18 based out of Camden.

About 12 years ago I met him over coffee at his picturesque cottage belonging to the McCarthur Onslow family situated within Camden aerodrome precincts. A laid back easy going type who enjoyed a drink. The same cottage was the former abode of Harry Purvis AFC who was the Manager of the Sydney Morning Herald Flying Services at Camden in 1947
