No, there is no truth to this rumour. Apparently posts have to be 10 characters or greater - otherwise I would have just replied 'No'.

Did you mean 777 Jupiter?

Star Class, hmmm with all these A320's doing international ops now....I can not confirm, nor deny.

Talking

Rumour I heard today is that J* pilot recruitment has been cut back from an original 240 this financial year to about 120 with distinct possibility of that number dropping further.

Third hand so I accept no responsibility whatsoever for the accuracy of it!

A Jetstar A320 with Starclass, if it were to happenwhich I would guess there would be 8 seats giving a very similar config to an AirNZ A320. I would guess Jetstar would reduce seat pitch to get an extra row in the front half of the cabin (or 2 rows if they have no screens and a few Y rows at 29 inches) and have reduced galleys in the rear to get an extra 3 seats. Total seats 161 (or 167)

Judging by the low prices Freedom use to charge ($60 for trans tasman in 2007) for their Suite seats which were AirNZ Business seats, the demand is limited on short haul tourist routes. Might work going to some Asian destinations? Subfleet?

But I have no inside knowledge, so this is all speculative.

I have also heard rumours of JQ F/O's being asked to head over and fly in Vietnam due to pilot cutbacks..I'm guessing it's all to do with fuel prices?

Thats fine as long as you have 737 rating, no 320's in Vietnam yet.

Don't Jetstar Asia have A320's?

According to their website they do!

QF22,

This article and this article would suggest that if Jetstar Pacific doesn't currently have any 320s on strength, it won't be long before they do.

That said, I would agree that this photo is fairly conclusive of what they've inherited from Pacific Airlines and are running with at present.

G'day Taildragger
Nice photo, that's 25% of the fleet !
Don't believe everything you read on the net. Yep they will get A320s as soon as they can get one serviceable and out of the hangar.
They should have 7 x 737s and 7x 320s by the end of next year.
Cheers

Why !

Why was this thread moved? Maybe moderators are in the airlines pockets? Maybe Pprune is not unbiased and we are all company stooges?

Got an intap the other day asking for expressions of interest for pilots to take up positions with a major UK airline for, July,Aug,Sept this year.

Also spoke to 2 trng Capt who responded to the EOI for Capt based in Hanoi. They said the package was a joke and did not even include any accomodation assistance. Naturally they withdrew their interest.

As a UK citizen trying to get a job / visa in Australia, yes!

And that particular thing is just Gordon Sodding Brown posturing. It will never happen.

big difference between a 3-6 month work permit which would equate to a working holiday and a 5 year working visa! in 3 months summer, well there summer will be over and everyone will want to come back home.
