YSBK lane of entry northbound

Is it advisable when tracking northbound to track all the way to patonga and then proceed northbound to say MQD or go direct after passing D539a/b @ pennant hills

There is nothing to stop you tracking Pennant Hills to Mt McQuoid if you want to. However you will be cutting right across any inbound traffic, so keep a good lookout. I would not do it.

You did not say your destination but tracking to MQD from Patonga or from Pennant Hills takes you over tiger country. I prefer to fly over the lower ground to the east, Central Coast near the Lakes/Warnervale. Again your choice.......

The lane extends to PAA for a reason. For the sake of a small time saving, I would use the full length.

PAA to MQD

I agree with DickyP , Just one word of warning - Watch the 3500' step - Lately I have had to council two pilots for busting it, just stay below 3500' until Mangrove Mtn. it's not that hard.
