Redo, I was trying to remember your Mod user name when I mentioned the Kelly Gang and Woomera but alas, memory fails. The Kelly Gang registered November 21, 1999, so you would have been the Dunnunda Mod in 1998 - 1999???

Yes, it would have been some task for one mod, even with lower user numbers. There were a few very angry topics, the '89 wars, Jetcraft/Transair and later the Ansett/Flight West closure.

I'd almost forgotten the days of PPRuNe Chat.

Voice, 10,000th user registered on January 22, 2000 and the 50,000th user registered on June 4, 2002.

Binos is correct regarding censoring the words "M@cair" and "Jetcraft". That occurred well before my time as a Mod but I'm sure Redo would remember it well!

Yeah I remember it only too well...

Southern Comfort was my mod handle.

It was that or Jack Daniels. I liked the play on Southern.

Hey, how come the Mods are allowed to hijack this thread?

I thought this was supposed to be an anti mod thingy not a mod luv in interspersed with pining and weeping for the good old days!

Hey Obie2 .. things could've been worse .. it could've been the dreaded 'click' instead of an unintended trip down mod memory lane!

GO the mod's .. they're real people too!

Thumbs up Memories.... light the corners....

I'd almost forgotten the days of PPRuNe Chat
Such as the very first time I ever decided to log-in to Pprune chat (remember the "hot-tub?) and made that fatal mistake by greeting.... "'evening chaps". I still remember Reddo's reply to that one....

Reddo, you might otherwise know me these days (in other places) as "A_A's other half".... She was the model for the pprune badge that gained so much male interest at the time....

That Tailwheel Time thread I started way back when generated some interest too.... However nothing like the 10 year '89 thread did before it. As usual Chuck and Vege were fantastic sources of info for the aspiring tailwheel wannabe!

Binos hit the nail on the head re the M*cflight (flite?) posts of the day. From my understanding it was more to do with the (now common and widely accepted practice) of offering a cadetship as a way into a regional airline.

obie2, I take offence to that... I've never been called a mod in my entire life.... sniff!

Ah yes, OpsNormal, August 2001 it was when I smuggled all those PPRuNe wings into the country. I don't have any photos of the situation online but well remember the task of allocating the said badges, with the help of good mate Sprocket - and no small amount of alcohol either!

Sorry for the thread drift but at least I can say that I acquired the badges from a rather senior PPRuNe moderator in the UK, so that keeps it inline with the broad thrust of the topic, doesn't it?

Ah, the wings. I still have my set. some old names being remembered here now.
funny no one has mentioned Hugmonster, as he was a pretty prominent poster.
Buggered if I can remember when I first signed up, but it must have been a while ago....... coz names like the Kelly gang, Black adder, capt snailtrails were all active when I first got here. several server crashes/changes and I'm still here with the same name though. funny how people have progressed in the industry since them days, like Reddo, Taily and Dan in Antartica, Etc and they all still hang here on occasion, while others have vanished.

Hugmonster's a pom and hasn't been seen for about 3-4 years at least.

I don't post very often in the D&G forums as I don't fly in Australia any more. If I get onto the G550 I might pop in occasionally.

Snailtrails has probably passed away.

Checkboard (former Techlog mod) is over here in ye Olde England too.

A two hour envelope? Wow, that'd be bl**dy paradise ol' mate!

Ah, the wings. I still have my set.
I remember having bought 2 wings badges for myself but ended up allocating the spare to someone who pleaded for it. Don't remember who that was now but can only hope it was valued. No, I'm sure it wasn't Wiz - at least I think I'm sure...

And he's someone's husband now too...

Hey Tailwheel........ you must be Human after all if you hang at the site where I have that as my sig. I may have to re-assess my previously held views on mods now.

Ignore that join date. That was when I rejoined after some technical probs. was around 98 originally.

Never argue with idiots! They drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

That is absolutely priceless .. may anyone use it from time to time ? or is a royalty payment expected ?

John. It's in Wiz's signature but signatures don't post these days. I'm sure I could negotiate a royalty agreement with the proceeds going to the Dunnunda bar fund!!!

.. done deal mate ... let me see, now ... royalty = 10% PPRuNe moderator standard emolument per citation (now that reminds me of the limerick involving "the miller's son, Jack .." but we probably ought not to go too far down that path in a family forum ....) .... should do the trick I would have thought ?

John.

Reminds me of Danny's bountiful, generous and magnanimous gesture just before last Christmas to double Mod's salaries.

Until I realised twice zero still equal zero!

Back to the topic: Does D & G have a Mod with a Prob?

No Sir!
