I was wondering what kind of job opportunities there are in Cairns for a fresh cpl holder. Cant find much on afap and was wondering if you guys/girls could help

Mate Cairns in my experience is a 800-1500hr with a bit of multi/IF time. Your best bet is going North and West, Head to Kunna's, Broome, Darwin, Arnhem Land, Alice Springs. There are a lot of other threads on PPRune about how to land a job so i suggest you use the search function and do some research.

300 is correct. Get up to Darwinski and be there on the spot. Limited opportunities in CNS and expensive to live whilst looking !

If you think CNS is expensive to live, wait till you try DRW!

I will second that. The hip pocket will hurt a whole lot more in DRW than in CNS.. Good luck
