It is located about 10 miles to the northwest of Burketown in the Gulf country.
Does anyone know if it is still operating?
I used to fly groups of tourists there for overnight stay about 8-10 years ago. Long dirt strip, you could taxi your aircraft all the way to the fence about 10 meters away from your demountable cabin. Great fishing for barra with guaranteed catch for evening meal, superb hospitality run by the friendliest staff. Endless stars every night with same amount of caintoads.

Has been closed for a number of years.
I have some fine memories of lost weekends, mostly spent propped up on a stool at the end of the bar!

Went past it about two years ago but the sign said it was closed.
I think it was something to do with some issues of public liability, but the memory's getting a bit dim on that....

Escott was where I caught my first barramundi - a tiddler 84cm!
I remember my first visit in around 1986. Freshies in their little pond, tame jabirus (feathered variety), kangaroos and Brolgas patrolling the camp ground. The way they all lined up for dinner behind the restaurant/bar. Then there was the emu that "owned" the airstrip.
Was still going on my second visit around 1999. I'll never forget motoring miles up the Nicholson river in a tinny, watching the crocs coming off the banks as I went past....perhaps that's why liability insurance became an issue.
