Qantas Requirements 2 Unit Maths
Hello,
I'm currently in yr12 and am interesting applying for the Qantas Cadetship once I have finished school. My question is, what type of 2 unit maths bridging course Qantas recognises as a suitable one, I know that they do take applicants with them, but I have not been successful in finding a pilot application email address where I could ask the specifics so I came here. I did 2 unit maths for all of year 11 and 1 term of yr 12 then changed to general. I have made a few inquiries at tafe's and uni's, for example one tafe 2 unit maths bridging course is 3 months for me and then at the end they would give me a certificate saying successful completion, is that what is required?

If your referring to apply for the swinburne/griffith then I don't think they accept mathematics bridging courses as an alternative for maths. I might be wrong but I think that is what I heard last.

So for direct entry what "approved equivalent course certificate" do they accept?
Does anyone know who to go through?
I never completed my HSC because I was busy getting a trade and studying other levels of diploma's and AD dip's.

I'm from the UK.
I have O level passes in maths and english along with a diploma in electrical engineering which included high level engineering maths .
Now I am of the impression that a YR 12 here is equivalent to an A level in the UK, O levels are like YR 11s. The diploma I did is equivalent to multiple A levels in maths and science, apparently 4 A levels I was told when applying for the course.
Does anyone know if this level of qualification would be acceptable. I know I failed to meet the Air Forces requirement here because they only accepted A levels from the UK and degrees. I hope Qantas are a bit more flexible and respect the hard work put into an engineering diploma.

same deal applies to Qantas.Unless you have the appropriate year 12 equivalent certificates then they won't even look at you.The only other option is a degree which overrides everything else but apart from that you'll either have to jump on a bridging course or do the whole of year 12 if you're wanting to apply for the cadetship(sounds fun I know!!).Make sure you have a Oz PR or Citizenship which is also a requirement.
I wouldn't recommend joining right now as things are looking very grim for the company..sit back, watch and enjoy the downfall of once a great, if not the greatest airline on the face of the earth(I predicted it last year and was one of the reasons I'm not there anymore).
Now I got the kind of money that the bank can't hold.

I applied for the cadetship recently but HR didn't seem too interested in my degree results, they were more interested in YR12 results so I think choosing the right course & getting good passes is very critical.
yep, its the year 12 results they go for. I was in correspondence with someone from HR at QANTAS, basically I was under the impression i had done the correct level maths, only to find out that because it was under the SSABSA model, that level maths was only recognized as lower level maths under the NSW HSC which is what QANTAS base their yr12 requirements on. They said the only way to get into QANTAS, in my case, would be to get a uni degree, or do the hard road of hours in GA and ATPL.
I'm doing the hard way, and loving every minute of it.
So yeah, off topic i know, but for others reading who are leaving or moving into their final years of high school, double check that your chosen subjects are recognised by QANTAS

Yep,
Maths Apps (especially in SA) is not acceptable
Maths Studies (or pure what ever its called) is needed, and also Maths Specialist is also useful however not essential (I found Specialist far to hard for me)

Thank God they finally started accepting a Bachelor Degree. Despite having enjoyed studying mine this is probably the first time that it's actually helped me on paper. Of course I'm currently an unemployed uni-graduate whose little brother makes oodles more than I ever have driving a backhoe... but I got me pride

And no, my HS maths would definitely not have counted. I remember the time, and this is NO JOKE, we counted out 100 kernels of popping corn, put them into a popcorn popper for X minutes then got them out and counted the number that had popped. Next we were told to turn that number into a percentage (OK 100 kernels, 78 popped sooo....) some idiots got their calculators out. As a really slack (but reasonably intelligent) HS student, I knew then and there... that I was in the right class.
