Have many moved north for the dry?
Hi guys..
I did hear that some of the companies around Broome and Kununurra are finding some difficulty in recruiting enough pilots for the dry season?
Any truth to this? I would have thought the new traineeships would have attracted people to stay in their cities and not move away.

So after spending $50 000 on a CPL people aren't keen on sweeping hangar floors and earning $30 000/year when there are better options available.
How surprising it must be for operators in these places not to have an endless supply of pilots falling over themselves to work for below award conditions.
10 -15 years ago positions would easily have been filled by walk in applicants alone without having to consider written applications, let alone advertise.
Prehaps we'll see starting salaries of $50 000/year for C210 drivers.

Are drivers being employed full time for your typical northern 210 gig or is it still predominantly casual?
Whats the going rate? Is it dangerous to assume that the award applies across the board?

*Not specifically speculating any operators here. But:
i find it funny how operators can pay below award wage in a town less appealing then a pile of dung, falls over themselves thinking why pilots are not showing up.
With Qantaslink offering a better salary and nicer aircraft to fly, and a lower entry requirements then what some operators are asking for, with a chance of progression, as well as it is a career job. What some operators are offering to pay is a rediculous joke.

Yeah mate but think of the insurance Qantas pay compared to Slingsby or Hardy. There has to be a line in the sand for New guys acting PIC . These cadetships are only F/O positions .
