To answer the question - if it is not normally visible - there will not be a problem. If it is cultural it 'shouldn't' be a problem - if it is there are ways to deal with that. Have seen plenty of pilots with them, most wear long sleeved shirts, etc.

On a side note, who gives a **** if you have one or not. It is purely a personal choice - sure its associated with some sort of stigma, but as someone else mentioned, so is smoking, alcoholism, not to mention those guys flying around who have trouble sleeping in their own hotel room on EVERY layover and are addicted to any female (and in some cases male or both) that is not their wife at home.

Working as cabin crew, i'd say almost half would have one somewhere, but you'll rarely see it at work - they can get in trouble if you can.

I have one, got it on Venice Beach at the age of 18 (paid in Aussie $ as it was all I had at the time), never planned to get it. It's a set of wings I drew on the back of a History exam in grade 9 (for what its worth, I failed the exam and the moron teaching the class said I would never amount to anything), and I had kept it in my wallet ever since. It means something special to me, I don't regret it for a second - its a great reminder when things get tough.

This thread is strange? So what if someone chooses to have some ink, I don't, but I also don't make assumptions about people that do. That would set me up to look really stupid, you can't judge a book by it's cover. People might have preconcieved notions about reasons people might get tatts but they'll generally be proved wrong these days. Everyone's got bits of metal hanging off them and lots of pretty colours, even really smart rich people.

This whole thing is just a little narrow minded, be like saying all wogs like olives and do grano work.

If I've fallen for the trap, well done trapper, but it's just too hard to let the stereotype go.

I am middle aged and work with young offenders. I think a few of you narrow minded folk should take on board what we tell these outspoken naughty little boys.
"You are entitled to think what ever you like, but you are not entitled to say what ever you like".
I hold a PPL and have a pass in CPL, IREX and ATPL with 150 hours up. I now have a young family and paying a mortgage. I desperately want to get current and would love a flying job flying turbo props up and down the East coast.
I have tattoos but you would never know. My school teachers always told me I would never be an Airline pilot as I didnt have the brains for it. How foolish of them to say these things. Now reading some of these comments, I know who hasnt got the brains. Tattoos and all, I am heading for the skys!!
