I think I know that someone who knows someone who knows someone as well. Weekends off count for a fair bit too.

Hans, what is first year Mt Cook currently? (roughly)

Bugger, working for Eagle. Been there done that! Never again. To all the aspiring little Eaglets out there, Think long and hard about that 3 year 30k bond in the current market. Take a good look at the other operators mentioned before you sign your time away.

With ATPL/or all subjects 1st year F/O = $59850 + $12-15K non-tax allowances

Stay on that rate (+/- cpi increases) till year 4, by that time you'll have a command.

Year 1 Capt (year 3 Co who upgrades goes to Year 1 Capt) = $90K + allowances

Command time about 3 years at the mo, expected to drop significantly with transition to a new fleet type and increased frames.

It's a bloody fantastic job, recommended to all

What he said PLUS

8.75% super, 5 days off a roster (flexible roster) and Air NZ staff travel.

3 years ago those Air freight F/O's where on $65K but like I said not sure now.

On that note I'm off into hiding for another 6 months

Funny how things don't work out

Same type, same number of frames running a -1 schedule, Command time out to 6+yrs at the moment (me personally looking at 7-8yrs total to command)

Basically I haven't moved in the seniority list since my post in Apr 08.

Still a great job, maintain the recommendation.

Vincent have goneski from NZ ops.
Air National not far from gone either.
Chathams still going, but be prepared to relocate permanently to Tonga

The best regional job in nz is entirely dependant on you having a current passport and getting out of there. Woohoo...eagle having good gear?? They adopted the B1900 at least 10 years after others in the developed and developing countries and were one of the last in the world to retire the EMB110 on scheduled airlines ops. Bandits in PNG were being retired after hard lifes in PNG long before eagle and the travelling public knew what B1900s were in a similar way to HS748 with mount cook and saab/metro with air Nelson. Your children of today will be riding on atrs and dash 8s (what ever you want to call them) until airnz link adopts the 'latest technology' in about 20 years time.

Not for long...

All those J32s are for sale...

BAE Systems Asset Management

Search on Jetstream 32...

967 = ZK-ECN
968 = ZK-ECR
969 = ZK-ECJ

Not sure I'd want to join an "airline" that has most of it's aircraft for sale...

Wow its a different world since my day, amazing that you get to choose who you work for these days.

I would have said (to the original post) take the first one that offers!

T's and C's

Generally T's and C's are best maintained or improved by those already working in a company, as they generally hold the best position to do this through industrial action if and where required.

I think it a little unfair to put this on the new hires if they are signing up for the same T's and C's as those already employed, the only exception is persons who agree to work for less, or work while an industrial dispute includes an agreed hiring ban.

Dont you agree it is up to those of us further ahead to help out the younger fellas behind, rather than expect them to suffer because we couldn't be bothered standing up for what is right; especially since in most cases the further ahead you are, the better it has been for you?

For interests sake, would somebody like to have a go at two lists.

- one for twin turbine operators
- the other for single turbine / twin piston operators

ATO's that is.

The best GA job in NZ would have to be Air Napier!

Great variety in route structure, very caring and understanding boss, short days in sunny Gisborne and high pay!

I would put Air Safaris in Tekapo up there amongst the best in GA, that is if you can get a job there! Very well paid for GA - about the same salary as an Eagle F/O, Great bosses, very very interesting and varied flying and the opportunity to progress into Multi Turbine as well.

I did enjoy my time in the ground hog room and the great selection of magazines provided.

Air Napier

Is the old girl still doing the wairoa/gisborne run? Someone told me they were driving the freight now instead.

That stack of magazines was epic. And don't forget the daytime TV. Oh and for the adventurous, a trip into town on the bike? Haha!
