As the previous thread has descended into an argument about money I have started this one for pilots to post details of their interviews to help their the rest of us.

Please to arguing just good points about your interview experiences.

Any one care to post any info here, rather than emailing and PM'ing each other with it...

So we can all benefit, if needed, when the opportunity presents itself.

Look. We don't need the spelling police jumping in every time someone makes a typo. I've deleted eight such replies on this thread alone.

If you're unable to answer the guy/girl's question without criticising their spelling, then don't answer at all!

Crikey WangFunk.... Tone it down big fella.... Why dont you let us know how you feel...!! Not that I dont agree with you. You make a valid point, but dude... go easy!! There's a time and place for language like that. I feel you should edit some of your post my friend....

How about we get back to the point of this post. Anyone care to share there experiences at the Voz interview/selection stages.

Dont turn thihs post into the last one. Stay focused, like all you good pilots should be able to do.

Had a call this morning

Nothing really to add just a chit chat to confirm the position you are applying for and if you are typed on the 777.

Pay was discussed ie what are you on now and this is what you will be earning although by the sounds of it they are still figuring out final details . I was told senior FO's will be on 110-130 inclusive BUT not including overnight allowances. Cruise pilots on 60 to 70 percent of this. Then they ask you how you feel about it. Additionally all pilots are on individual contracts so no EBA or the like and once again how do you feel about this.

Was also told that they have received permission to fly to west coast US and will be getting 6 aircraft in two years, and will also be looking to expand in the mean time.

Otherwise was fairly light on info. No details on rostering or time to upgrade but those are all things to be discussed at interview if you get that far.

After all this they ask you whether you are happy to continue and if you are you'll get an email for the online testing portion. They then tell you that interviews are being organised around the world so that travel will be minimised and the finally ask you what your current notice period is.

Fairly simple really no hassles more of an information session.

Only problem is do you go there and hope for an upgrade quickly with the expansion and suck the fairly poor money in the mean time or head over to the red rat and earn a whack load more for doing the same job!!

Decisions decisions!

Offered a CFO interview via email. When queried about the salary range reply quoted package inclusive of super were $58K excluding allowances, time to upgrade unknown, fly max hours 1k per year. I sent a polite reply to turn down the interview. Met a HKE pilot he went for the interview in the first round offered a CFO position turned down when they offered $55K. I think they are still testing the market. My experience 4500TT, 1000 Jet >50Tonne, 3100 Turbine. Could PPL indicate their experience if you have accepted the CFO interview please.

Cheers.

Yes 58K is very low but consider this they havent even commenced flying yet so not making any profit, there are guys doing there endorsement and are getting paid from day one and i believe it is full pay or may be 80% until endorsement is finished, then they sit around until nov-dec on full pay untill the operation kicks off, going back to sim whenever you like to keep current. This is from some people i know on the inside once operation is up and running and making some money i think you will find that these pay rates will increase rather quickly. When VB started wernt their captains underpaid as well? around $110000 (correct mei f i am wrong but i think it was around this figure) and look at there pay now.

From a beancounters point of view i guess they have to be mindfull when they are starting new operation like this, however at the same time they have to offer a package that will make pilots want to join them and i agree the 58K isnt really doing this hoiwever personally i think that it will only get better and rather quickly too.

As for upgrades well if you get in with minimal hours yes i believe you will either be in the backseat for while or have an option to go to VB, however if you do have some experience ie, exsisting jet time, turbine time etc you will promoted straight into a window seat again dpending upon how it goes once it kicks off, i guess those who are in will find out.

Happy flying everyone

School Holidays is it?

A company does a budget when setting up a new op. If you don't have the money to pay the correct salary for the initial start up staff then that is the least of your worries. Paying lower salaries on the proviso you can use the Sim anytime you like? WHAT?

I am sure other staff and suppliers involved don't accept lower payments because they are not yet flying?
