Where are you DEATH 22?

Heard on ATC this morning.

An aircraft left Guam this morning, and hadn't been heard from for 6 hours.

Callsign DEATH 22, a B52 bomber enroute to Delamere bombing range, via Tindal had not made contact.

Did they find it?

Where are you DEATH 22?
Isn't that one of the objectives of a successful mission!

Hmm... no i think the objective of a successful mission is for us to hear about the target... not the aircraft...

ooOOOOooo

Given what the Marines did to Delamere and they were KNOWN to be there, I would be looking for a deeeeep hole to pull in on top of me.

Yes, DEATH 22 was found. Made a pass (not sure how low) at Tindal escorted by two Hornets who then broke away as the BUFF went back to Guam. Around midday i think it was

Who was the pilot that made BN centre repeat it 5 times before he understood the callsign? anyone on here? that had to be on purpose....

I went looking for some live ATC feeds and I found this!
http://www.liveatc.net/feedindex.php...ternational-oc

It has all the major australian airports and I'm listening to the brisbane feed at the moment but only because my local feed is down.

---EDIT---
I think there's been an ultralight crash somewhere between main beach and jacobs well. I heard of two rescue helicopters scanning the area.
Not much activity being reported now though so I think the emergency services might be using a different frequency.

UPDATE
I believe the ultralight crashed on Sanctuary Cove.

Aviation Enthus

I heard that also. Had the callsign spelt out numerous times, and still got it wrong. Maybe he was Deaf 23.

At least it was something to listen to in the cruise. Made me look around for traffic more though.

Here's some more info on the crash I heard about over the scanner earlier today.

apparently it was a home-built ultralight doing aerobatics along the beach head. When the pilots lost control, about 20 witnesses saw it spin into the surrounding water. Helicopters searched the area and found no survivors.
