I too, would love to know what's going on with this site. A whois check on the website vpmag.com indicates status as "Locked", but not due to expire till 18 Sep '08.

I've registered countless times on that website and not once have I been able to log in. I think it's broken. Oh well, no great loss.

Apparently due to financial issues the site is down,
dont quote me on this but this is what i have heard from others. Mods are hoping for it to be up on a new server in a few weeks.
Regards,
Matt

No loss from what I have seen and heard.

What other forums are there and what are they like?

Geez you're a bunch of cranky old so 'n sos!

The Sydney spotters site is what it is. It caters for the spotting community quite well from what I could see of the limited viewings I've had of it.

Just like this or any website, if you don't like it, don't visit it, but don't come on other websites and message boards whose members are hardly known for their impartiality or consistency and criticise it!

Live and let live guys!

Sydney Airport forum is a fantastic site in addition to PPRUNE,
and in no way are the mods incapable. The mods here and on YSSY forum are excellent and extremely dedicated.
In addition to my last post, new info now that it is not financial issues but rather just a server problem, and will be back soon.
Look forward to seeing it back online.
Matt

I hope it returns quickly, I agree with Nkand, it is a fantastic board, it does not compete with PPRUNE, rather it compliments PPRUNE offering YSSY centric chat which is interesting and informative for the locals.

Yes Dr Oakenfold I am YSSY board regular.

A Big Thank You to the members and mods of PPRuNe regarding this topic. A certain other Aust spotting forum has locked all discussions regarding this matter leaving us very much in the dark.

The site has been down for well over a week.

I emailed the admin and said it would be back up soon, but it was a standard reply as I can imagine the number of emails he would have got.

The site while good was on a very un-reliable server, lots of times it would be down.

Just move it to a new host I say

They are doing exactly that. Latest word is that it should be up again on a new server soon.

The New Sydney Airport Message Board

Dear Users,

As you may be aware, the Sydney Airport Message Board has been offline for the past few weeks.

In order to the improve the continuity of the Board service, we have migrated to another server - and indeed a new dedicated domain name.

http://yssyforum.net

Please familiarise yourself with the 'Welcome Message' in the Admin and Feedback Forum and the 'Conditions of Use' before Registering.

We apologise for the downtime over the past few weeks and look forward to your continuing support henceforth.
