Re: Job Oppurtunties
Hi all
My Uncle and I are in the middle of Talks about buying a Learjet or a
Citation, and I was wondering if we were to buy one of these a/c is there any companies out there that could put in on there line and may be even get work for it or maybe even if anyone on this site can find work for it ........ Could be offered a job to fly 1 of these machines if you could...... our mission is to get this a/c up and flying and making money for us.
Cheers

A Lear and a Citation are two very different aircraft and could be put to different uses, if you don't have an AOC yourself you will need to look at what type(s) the local companies have on their AOC. What city are you likely to base it in? Runway lenghts may be a factor depending on where you are and may affect your choice!
When using it for your own business (which I assume you will want to do), will you operate it single or multi crew? If you are going to use it for your own business purposes what likely availability will the aircraft have for the operator?

Howard,
It doesn't matter what city etc as long as there is work for these a/c.
Also we will worry about AOC later, but we are only going to purchase these a/c if we can get work for it.

Ok so what type of lear or Citation are we talking about?
Lear 21, 23, 25, 35, 45, 44 or 60?
Citation I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, X, CJ1, CJ2, CJ3 or Mustang?
As I said earlier the type of aircraft will determine the type of work it can do!
Cheers, HH.
PS: To follow up on Mourno's comment, please say Citation X!

While we're discussing this, my cashed-up uncle and I are looking at starting up a low cost carrier.
We are unsure of what aircraft we will buy. Probably an Airbus or a Boeing. We don't know where we want to fly. I just want to make a bucket load of money.
Can someone find me enough passengers and work to fill my jet? Again, not sure exactly how many passengers I will need.
No need to worry about an AOC yet, I'll do that later on. Shouldn't take me too much time.
I'm too precious to do my own research, so if anyone can help me that would be great.
Yours truly,
FTS

Jazzy, its always good to see someone who obviously knows nothing about an industry looking to get into it and make a bunch of money.
Why a Citation or a Learjet - well, most likely cause you have heard of them, haven't you!
Here's a novel way to achieve the same end result.
1) Take your Uncle's fortune (feel free to contribute your own as well).
2) Distribute it to the regulars who post on the PPRuNe D & G site.
For my share I will gladly throw in a lap around the countryside in the V35B.

Dear Mr Jazzy,
It has been some time since I posted in this forum. A little jail time didn't help but that is well behind me now.
I couldn't resist replying to your post about a business/job opportunity. I believe I could be the man to help you out. My former attempts to run a successful flying school (Flight Training for the Gifted) did not work out and I would like to enter what you folk call the charter business.
I and a number of top ranking African officers often have cargo to move across the globe. Sometimes I need to move large bags out of my home country of Nigeria into other states. Do not be concerned if you find white powder on the floor of your aeroplane, it will be flour. The flour business is very profitable these days.
Mr Jazzy, I have a large sum of money I can deposit in your bank account. Please PM me your bank account details and I will deposit US$5 million to help you finance your first jet.
I send open invitation to all Ppruners to send me bank account details. The more aeroplane we finance the better. Together we will be the next Fedex.
Until next time.
Best wishes,
General Alfred Hoziman

This...
And then this...
Firstly are you in talks or not?
Secondly as your Uncle has obviously made a considerable fortune elsewhere, perhaps the first place to start is a business plan and to narrow down the type specifics a little.
There is a considerable difference in cost ( both acquisition and ongoing) between a thirty year old Citation I, or a Lear 23/25 (at around $1.5 mil US) and a Citation X or Lear 60 (at well over $20 mil US).
The 'scattergun' approach rarely works well in any business, it is even less accurate in an aviation business.
Cheers, HH.
