JAA / Australian ATPL

Has anyone heard that the JAA are going to start recognising the Australian ATPL as equivalent to the JAA ATPL?

Interesting....care to share with us where you heard this, and if there is any documentation to support it?

I'd kept my mouth shut till now because I can't substantiate it - but I was told by several British Pilots a while back that the EU was considering making AU/NZ ATPL/CPL conversions much simpler, apparently the large number of EU residents who travel down this way to do their training was a factor...perhaps it might only be for EU citizens? Hopefully not (if it's true).

Well it certainly would be an interesting development should it happen, in my case it could concievably mean i could come back home and rob a job off a wannabe
Then again, I don't have 50 hours recent NZ IFR time..nor do I have 500hrs multi PIC in a navajo

I thought you had your NZ ATPL Haughtney...I must've assumed? Isn't the IF requirement just for Air Nelson?

If it's true then I'm off to Europe as soon as it becomes effective. I'll believe it when I see it

It also means less or a cut in jobs for EU residents...and more difficult to the lines for EU fresh comms or wannabees.
Think more of a nasty rumour.

Launchpad old son.....you missed seeing my tounge in my cheek...Iv'e actually got an Oz ATPL, and a NZ version issued under the TTMRA thingi with an expired medical
It was easier getting the Ozzie one issued, than it was to get the NZ one.....even though I already had a NZ CPL...go figure

haughtney,

do you mind outlining exactly what you had to do to get the OZ ATPL. I need to get either a NZ or OZ ATPL issued and have a NZ CPL and JAA ATPL already. It appears to me that the OZ option is the easier of the two. Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks Mate.
