Hi All
Many thanks for all the replies so far, i have been doing the leg work and it seems it is no biggie to convert my licenses to Aus licenses once there, seems it is two exams and a flight test, Air law for the Comm and IREX for the I.F rating.
What I am battling to find is what I would need to do to convert my Instructors rating, any gen from those in the know would be most welcome.

Get in contact with CASA and see if they would accept your foreign instructor rating, if they do it may be just paperwork, if they dont recognise your hours you may find you have to do the entire training and flight test again. Although, from memory theres a new CAO come out which accepts other countries instructing experience... if its not out now it should be soon, have a look on casa.gov.au --> Current Rules --> Civil Aviation Orders --> Part 40: Flight Ratings --> Grade III Instructor Rating
Arrrr! May that be of some assistance to ye!!!

Much Obliged Cap'n
Thinking of using AFT to study for the 2 exams, anyone know if thier study material is availible on line as a distance learning program?
From what I hear, they are pretty much the best to use.

CAO 40.7 recognises a foreign instructor's instructor training provided s/he has received at least 50 hrs of instructor training. S/he will have to do at least 10 hrs instructor training by an Oz instructor school.

Echidnaaa,
Please retract your posts. There are people pointing fingers at people in blame for what you have written. There are legal remifications and it is wrong what you have done - other people are getting in trouble!
Thanks.
