V Australia Recruiting

Has anyone heard back with a definite interview date yet?
It is exciting to have a local operator planning to operate the B777.
Hope it is a great success.
The other thread, although well viewed, has degenerated in to total dribble!!
Anyone with some positive and useful information please reply.......

No1Dear

Very much agree...

From info I have gathered from those that I have spoken to recently, it seems they are starting at the top and working their way down. Possibly from the most experienced to the least.... That being, experienced Captains and FO's with time on type down to those with fewer hours and no type rating.... I heard they had somewhere in the area of 1000 total applications. Not all will be shortlisted for psych and interviews.

I could be completely wrong... That just seems to be whats happening from the info I have gathered.

To answer your question though.... I dont know anyone personally who has been invited to attend. But am aware of people who have been. Those that I am aware of have both several thousand jet, or turboprop hours. One of which has no experience on type.

No call yet.... they said Jan/Feb

Hey I got the usual call about 2 months ago with all the 'Market research' Q's I said yes to apply and have heard nothing since........

don't really care too much if they don't call, plenty of other flying opportunities out there that actually count toward applications...... Eg- Stacks of applications say 'what is your total time etc etc - DO NOT COUNT TIME AS CRUISE RELIEF F/O"

So even though it may be a easy job, with moderate renumeration I think you will be there a very long time in the back seat unless they expand quicker and cant find more experienced drivers to jump straight in in-front of you? Food for thought........?

But in the next 6months to a year will see most of the regional/jet guys placed in a jet seat so they may start looking at lesser experience? untill then if your GA and 2000hrs or less you may have to go to regional RPT first?

Good luck anyways and dont hold your breath!

Friction Nut I have to disagree re any logic in the calls. I have flown with very experienced guys who have years of international experience and they have not even had the initial call yet.

Remember there are no actual agreements from the US Govt yet, that meeting is not until next month.

VB Domestic Mgt are still convinced that they are getting the gig, I'm not so sure, or there will be a token only?

Hi all.

Nice idea to move away from the previous thread into something a little more constructive.

Ok...just to let you know, I received the first call in Jan, was offered short-listing as I now live back in Oz and have a Command rating on the 777.

However, still no further word ( phone, email, fax, owl or otherwise), but I shall let you know if I do

Cheers

I stand corrected... Sounds fair enough. Good point jetblues. Maybe you are right... maybe there is no logic behind it.

Well, at least none that is obvious to us anyway.

Will my wife mind me being away 8 days at a time for a domestic pilot's wage?
Will my kids grow up as disfunctional "no Dad brats"?

Mr Buzzy....didn't realise they were planning on only doing one flight a week on the SYD-LAX run!!!!
Or how is that you work a SYD-LAX return flight into 8days away!?!?!?!
If it's a good Virgin comapany they would make the crew layover as short as possible.....I would take a stab at a 4 day trip(2 nights LAX) tops!
Then again 6 nights laying over in LAX might provide for a quick stop over in VEGAS
