Canadian in Australia looking for work
Hi everyone,
Not sure if this is the right forum, apologies if it isn't.
I'm in Brisbane for the next year and looking for <20 hrs work per week (visa req'ment). Any idea on where to look for work. I have an FAA Commercial Multi IFR license and would convert if I found the right job. Also, I'm planning to stay once my masters is finished.
Thanks for any advice.
Cheers,
MJH

Thanks, I guess.
So, if it's the wrong forum, which is the correct forum?
I'm familiar with search however I didn't find an answer. I know the details of converting the license but what I don't know is if it's worth it. Everybody I speak to says there are jobs everywhere but I can't seem to find a definitive resource or listings of these jobs. I was just looking for a little more than heresay. Also, I am watching AFAP, which seems to be one of them.
I think I was clear is saying that I would convert my licenses over if I thought the job was worth it. So, yes, I know I won't get hired with an FAA license. Just making that clear.
Apologies for keeping this thread alive but I just looking for clarity.
Cheers,

Brisbane = Lots of instructing but not much charter
If you had an instructors rating (or are willing to get one), then you'll be able to guarantee a job with at least those hours at Archerfield or Redcliffe. There is also some meatbombing around the place but not sure if it would pay enough if you're going to have to live on the limited work you're allowed to do on that kind of visa.
If it was me I'd be seeking a casual instructing job, the kind that only pays you per flight / briefing hour. 20 h/rs at $45 an hour adds up quick (especially since your payslip only mentions the hours you actually get paid for).

You won't find any job unless you have an Australian Licence.
Try reading THE AUSTRALIAN paper every Friday - the Aviation Job lift-out section is in the back. Very Good for jobs.
Also advertise in the AVIATION TRADER paper that you see at newsagents.
AMaybe even try the AVIATION LABOUR GROUP - they may find you a pilot job - if that is what you're after.

Thanks again!
Aviation Trader and the Labour Group, these are new to me.
I think all the listings in the weekend paper are posted on AFAP but I'll take a look.
Thanks a lot!

Firstly, wrong forum.
Secondly, search is your friend.
TID.

If this is not an appropriate forum to ask about employment prospects in Australia, what is???
The only other Australian forum is for supposedly airline and RPT issues, doesn't sound like a place to go looking for a part time gig.
How about a response more befitting the title of "moderator"
