Wake up.

Move with the times or face closure.

Governments can afford it - we pay enough tax in this country.

for the love of....$$?

I agree with HH & Wally, the RFDS in my mind is more than for the $$. It taps into the soul. You're using your skills as a pilot for the greater good of society...is there a price for that? sure the miners/doctors/nurses earn maybe more than a driver...but, are they sitting at the pointy end looking out at that amazing scenery? nope, they'll be working in 45degree temperatures underground inhaling dust and other not-so-good-for-you particles which, like asbestos, may at some stage prove to actually kill! As for the medical staff, i'd rather be looking out of the window than at manky bodies! I can't wait to have enough req's to join the RFDS...perhaps towards the end of my flying career.

Not sure where your info comes from but underground is normally about 20C and with modern ventilation and jumbo operators using water whilst drilling, dust is a thing of the past. Not saying it's a dream job but your description is a little off the mark.

airstream, is that statement based on first hand experience and if so are you/were you based at Meeka?
