How QF Many A330-200s On Order?
Hi,
Keep seeing and hearing conflicting info.
How many A330-200s on order? 6 or 4?
I heard the total order was for 8 A332s (2 for JQ which have already been delivered and the last 6 for QF)
But have since heard only 4 A332s are coming. EBG is already here so that leaves only 3?
Also heard the last few might be domestic A332s?
Anyone have solid info/proof of what is actually on order etc?

A spreadsheet from Airbus's own O&D site states (to 30 Nov 07):
Qantas Airways:
A330-200
Ordered: 10
Delivered: 6
Operated: --
A330-300
Ordered: 10
Delivered: 10
Operated: 10
Jetstar Airways:
A330-200
Ordered: --
Delivered: --
Operated: 6
So it would appear that, as far as the manufacturer is concerned, it still owes 4 x A330-200 to Qantas Airways.
What the customer then chooses to do with them (in terms of operating them itself or leasing them to someone else) is clearly up to the customer...
This QF news release states that QF ordered 4 x 332 in Oct 06.

So it would appear that, as far as the manufacturer is concerned, it still owes 4 x A330-200 to Qantas Airways.
Qantas Group then bought two more A330-200s - VH-EBE and VH-EBF, and these went direct to Jetstar.
The above six aircraft are those mentioned as delivered in the Airbus orders and deliveries data. Qantas then ordered another four A330-200s (at discounted rates as part of the A380 delay compensation deal), which is why it shows 10 on order and 6 delivered.
That orders and deliveries data was correct as at 30 Nov 07. Subsequent to this date, on 14 Dec 2007, the first of the four A330-200s ordered by Qantas, VH-EBG, was delivered (which was the 5000th Airbus aircraft delivered to a customer). This is why it doesn't yet show up in the orders and deliveries.
Your conflicting info about whether there are 6 or 4 waiting to be delievered comes from the fact that in addition to those four ordered by Qantas, the airline is also leasing two more A330-200s from ILFC,
Therefore as at today, in addition to the three remaining to be delivered from the Qantas order of 4, there are another two due from ILFC.
Four A330-200s ordered by Qantas plus
two more from ILFC are as follows:

David Eyre

Thanks David,
I did seem to recall, in the dark recesses of my brain, something about some leased airframes in the mix, but couldn't find it when I did a search on both Qantas's and Airbus's websites. Thanks for clarifying it.
