Hi all,

I'm wanting some info on the Partenavia eg. running cost etc.

also if there is a Partenavia Operating Handbook available in PDF format to look over.

Hey KO

Just a few basics assuming IFR Charter category.

Yearly Costs
Insurance $8k - 10k per year
AD/RAD/43 & 47 & AD/INST/9 say $900 every three years (so $300/yr)

Hourly costs
Eng O/H $30k x 2 every 2k hours
Prop O/H $3k x 2 every 2k hours (new props 2 x $12k every 6-8k hrs)
Fuel 80l x $1.60 every hour.
Scheduled maintenance - periodic every 100 hours $2k
Unscheduled maintenance - another $2k every 100 hours
Air Nav & landing fees $20 every hour.
There is some expensive maintenance on P68s on the main spars at about 8000 hours, you may need to factor that in.
There are also some ADs on prop hubs cracking etc.

Do I own one or have I owned one? - No! (but almost)
Have I flown one? - Yes.
We do maintain one in the maintenance organisation where I work.
What do I own? - A C210 instead.
My list is by no means exhaustive, but good enough for a start in the right direction.
That fuel price is about what we pay in Central QLD - give or take.

My post was intended to give KO an idea where to start on working out running costs. There are other costs that aren't there that some people will or won't take into account, like the cost of finance etc.

$1.60 for fuel sounds good, we currently budget $1.70p/l for the current fleet covers oil usage and price rises (for now)

Just ensure the fuel selector valves in the cockpit are free to turn to individual positions. Many Partenavias are defective in that area with fuel valves often needing two hands to turn. CASA issued an AD some years ago requiring the ease of operation of the fuel valves to be checked at regular intervals. If significant binding was noticed an appropriate entry was to be endorsed in the maintenance release. This followed a fatal accident in UK when the pilot was forced to ditch when she was unable to switch fuel tanks during cross-feeding.
