Question QF Process

Hi,

Can anyone shed light on what happens after you have been rejected at Stage 1 (application) "other applicants were more competitive after the panel review". Do they throw your application out and thats it? Or can you keep updating your application with them?

Thanks!

Well, last year I got the same letter - at Stage 1. I had the minimum hours and was in my mid-thirties, but do hold a couple of Degrees (thinking that may compensate for my perhaps less than ideal minimum hours). Not the best combination but hey, if u don't try...

I was surprised I didn't even get a shot at Stage 2.

Then this year with announcements of pilot shortages / 500 new SOs etc thought I'd send in an update in case things changed, hoping for a reconsideration. No change to hours as I don't work in Aviation and have a young child so I have not flown for a year or so. Even spoke to an FO I know and he strongly encouraged me to do so. X months later I get another letter saying I am not competitive. I have to say, I was a little surprised, but I wasn't disappointed. Will I try a third time? I think it is unlikely.

So I guess there is still ample supply of candidates at the top of the funnel, as if there weren't, I would have expected a Stage 2 call.

Oh well, life goes on, there are many other opportunities out there.
There is no harm in trying again, your circumstances are probably quite different to mine, and you may have a different outcome to mine, but be prepared for another No Thanks letter.

Good luck if you do decide to give it another crack.

Mate,

I got the same letter 2 years ago then updated my info a few months later. I got another letter saying that they don't think I will be competitive now or in the near future.

Just this year I was told to send another app in by Q pilots I know (especially with the current climate) and I got the same letter saying I was not competitive and there are better applicants. I have a degree and many other aviation quals not just flying, and have now obtained jet time since 2 yrs ago. Go figure! Got a call by QLink to go and do the Q process and got through that, but still not competitive for mainline!

I think once they make a "D" then there is little reason they will change it. There are other operators out there and Q is not the be all and end all. It has worked out well for me and friends in Q complain about how long the sectors are and the boredom. So don't give up and good luck!

Thanks for your responses! I guess they do keep the application "on file" then - if you can update them.
I also got called for the Qlink process and have word they started ref checking. Did the psycho testing, sim etc which they said would go on any Qantas application you had in as well, who knows if that makes any difference.

Did you take the Qlink job?
