LACKER OAK (good Mates) coming to OZ
Just returned from an overseas trip and bumped into a few SAA lads letting me know that JETSTAR were talking about heading over to South Africa to run roadshows for flight crew based in Oz. Has anyone heard the same?
The thing I found very amusing was when one of these weird talking blokes said his mate got a job here in a senior position, and during his farewell speech said he definately wasn't moving to OZ for the money.... I remember paying 50 cents ozzie for a bottle of beer in Zim a few years ago. Am I missing the bigger picture here?
The buggers beat us in the RUGBY and now they want our jobs haha.

Who was it who said they'd be shaking trees in the Ukraine...??
The airplanes will fly and southern Africa has no shortage of round-eyes who can keep the blue side up and are happy to leave their downward-spiralling countries.
They don't care if the money isn't as good as it used to be, they can stop at a red-light in Aust without some n***** popping a cap in their arse.
Maybe J* and/or the Rat have approached the gummint about the 457 (or whatever) visa process and the profession of Pilot so they can open the residency floodgates?? If so, expect more from India, too.

Correct spelling is "Lekker okes". Good pilots as well from what I've seen of them, they'll fit in well unlike the Sudanese.
BIG shortage of pilots in India at the moment, not many available there.

I have heard that SAA will be shutting their doors in November as a ploy to re-employ all of their pilots on far lower wages. So maybe they will get a few interested in Jetstar, however, as far as fitting in, I think that is going a bit too far. Most South Africans live in enclaves, are very clicky and try to work as a group to protect themselves and promote from within. To say that we are similar is not accurate. However, it is becoming more obvious that the likes of Jetstar and Rex are heading down this route, rather than pay Australians the money that they are worth. The only hope we have is if EK take them, which may suit the Yarpies more anyway.
