Why does every one have smart ass answers to people asking a simple question.... Is it because they hate G.A or are they insecure so they feel they need to pay people out?

I thought that the title 'pprune rage' was hinting at a special programming of Rage this weekend by ppruners.

Pilots are passionate about flying, but commercial flying is such a hard place to be nowadays, with heaps wanting to earn reasonable dollars but so few places that actually pay good dollars. It creates a lot of cynicism.
Passionate cynicism spills over to "smart arse" very quickly.
What I hate about it is that it tends to overshadow good argument, which is what forums are supposed to be all about. I posted a very similar line to yours about three years ago and the derision that it drew was immense. I was accused of trying to stifle opinion by objecting to some vitriolic comments.

My experience with PPRuNe is quite the opposite from yours.
I have generally (perhaps always!) gotten a sensible answer to any sensible question I have asked on PPRuNE.
I have also got a lot of smartarse answers - some really clever and amusing and some less so.
The clever smartarse answers provide a measure of comic relief that is one of the attractions of this forum.
However, if you ask a really stupid question, I suggest that you .......... duck!

Some time ago I posted a pic of a well know PPRuNer's aeroplane, with the comment "Look what I came across today".
This prompted the retort from said owner "I hope you wiped it off afterwards"!
