Baron B58 Fuel Flow and Capacity

Does anyone know approx fuel flow and capacity of a Baron B58 and realistic cruise TAS, I have read 160, 180 and 200.

Thanks in advance.

I think he's referring more to the TAS with those figures Maverick.

Depends what you're doing really. Lot's of short hops, expect about 120-130L/hr. However if you're doing nice long leg's, and can lean it out nicely, then expect 100-110L/hr.

TAS, most I've flown TAS out around 180kts at height.

I poled around a 58 BARON with a TAS of about 175 in hot wx up to 187 light cool conditions.

Fuel capacity was 628 litres and a burn as mentioned of around 120lph (2litres per minute...easy maths when under the pump)

Wouldn't your TAS be higher when it's hot (temps above ISA)??

175kts and 120 lph will keep you out of trouble. Works for C310's as well!

Higher Air Temp = Lower TAS ?

I think he might be pointing out that the aircraft doesn't perform as well in higher temps.

I agree with the good Captain. 175 Kts and 120l will work very well. You will most likely get better but planning with those numbers should not leave you short. Safe landings!

10 litres per hour per piston is a good estimate for most ga aircraft.

The Baron flight manual has very detailed cruise charts. How accurate are they given that the average airframe is 10-20 years old. Do even new airframes match the book figures.

Except for ....... the exceptions!

Cessna 172XP with a 6 cylinder Continental IO-360 = 60 L/hr?

Hmmm!

Easy if you try hard enough.

nomorecatering , I found the cruise figures to be reasonably on the money, just don't take any notice of the fuel pressure vs flow graph!. Nowhere near it!, I have only flown one particular example though.

Yes your correct, I did mean more in terms of acft weight and general get up and go. Same with any in this category really.
